SouthWest Formula Ford Racing - July 3rd, 2008

- Stop the presses! -

A myth is broken!

For years, it was suspected that Mike Milner brought "2" cars to the track.
"1" to race & the other to park outside of his trailer.

I present proof, that Mike's car is NOT immune to dirt.

SouthWest Formula Ford Racing - June 23rd, 2008

- A letter from a Cal speedway participant -

Richard, and everyone involved in "The Series",
I wanted to thank you for such a great weekend!!!!

I was so hot and tired after the race, and was only thinking about getting back home to Tucson before dark(which didn't even come close to happening due to someone else's wreck on I-10) when I realized that I had not taken the time to come and thank you, your family, and the rest of all the drivers for such a fantastic time.

The effort and passion Richard has for what he is doing is with "The Series" is contagious, which shows through in the quality of people and drivers that are participating with us.

Each event is more fun than the last one.

This weekend was the kind of weekend that will be a lingering memory for the rest of my life;  it was my first time at Cal Speedway; my first time in a grid of 30 formula fords; and being able to watch the race on Sunday from the best seat in the house perched in 5th place.

The show that the Patterson's, Pittenger, and Hatle put on was really awesome!!!!!  Those cars were so evenly matched, and the drivers were so skilled and talented.  I was amazed at the number of passes done each lap.  The spectator only got to see a portion of the race from whatever section they were standing, but my seat was about 5 car lengths back for the entire time.

I got to an opportunity to watch, and learn from some of our best at what they do.  It was truly amazing, and I now regret that I didn't have an on board camera to share the footage of the race.  Its going to be replayed in my mind for a long time.

The drive home turned out to be extremely long, the lack of A/C didn't help.  I was completely exhausted all day today at work.  The funny thing is, while I was working today on "autopilot mode" and just getting through the day, I was still on the banking on the speedway with all my friends.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next event, and I will share any pictures with the group that my friend, Kevin, came took from Saturday.

Thanks again to everyone for an amazing weekend!!

SouthWest Formula Ford Racing - June 10th, 2008

* JFYI *
If you're heading to Cal speedway to Race or just experience HSR Formula Ford "The Series"
You can expect the following

"Ed confirmed - 25 - Formula Ford entries as of yesterday.

I have confirmed by email 3 more Formula Fords will be entering.  That's 28!!!!!!

It would be incredible to have 30 or more on Saturdays pre-grid.

I have spoken or emailed four others.  One is having his car shipped from back east.  We have our fingers crossed hoping it will arrive in time.  I have not heard from another driver, but was told by a friend he will be at Cal Speedway.  A third has told me he did not think he could make the event.  I am hoping he finds a way. A fourth has entered his Sports Racer but last night emailed that he may also enter his Formula Ford.

Think about it, a milestone, 30 or more Formula Fords on pre-grid.  Guys, this is special.  If you have not entered, do you really want to miss this event? Please find a way to be at California Speedway.

GARAGES:  Two left over as of today.

Here's hoping for 30 or more....."

"A message from Richard Holladay"

Great News:

We have 24 Formula Ford drivers who have said they will be
racing at the HSR-West event at
California Speedway on June 20, 21, 22.

Two additional drivers have told us they are doing their best to make the event.

We have at least 6 drivers we have not been able to contact.
We are hopeful several of those will also be at California Speedway.

In three weeks we are going to have another "Series" barn burner.

Several spectator Formula Ford owners will be coming out to see what our "Series" is all about.
If the past is any indication, they will be come members in the very near future.

THANKS TO ALL FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO FORMULA FORD "THE SERIES."

See you at California Speedway.

AZ Formula Ford Racing - March 4th, 2008

Congrats to Mr. Dean Berry, for his victory on Saturday! (Team Lola!)
&
Mr. Tim Haskin for his victory on Sunday!

Saturday, we only had "3" FF's start the race, and Sunday saw two more take the green.
FV driver, Kurt Chandler, showed that he's up to speed first time out in a FF!

Lousy turn out, but great racing by everyone!

Season Points & Schedule page has been updated.

Saturday's FF turnout.....

at the Formula Ford "The Series" event at PIR, running on slicks.

Mr. Mike Milner takes a 3rd place Saturday & 2nd Sunday after swapping places
with another local driver John DiGiovanni.

I understand that there were over 20 FF's that took the green over the weekend!

Congrats Guys!

The 2008 EFF Points totals have been updated, and are posted.

Have a look here

AZ Formula Ford Racing - February 4th, 2008

Congrats to Mr. Taylor Archer for his Victories
on both Saturday & Sunday!

I missed being there Saturday, but understand that there was contact between a couple cars
during the qualifying race, which sadly ended their weekend.

Sunday was cold, overcast & occasionally sprinkling.
"6" FF's took the green, and everything was kept clean throughout the entire race.

Our count down timer has been reset.
Mr. Jim Edmonds, Barry Ebert and Mr. Dan Goss have been added
to our 2008 drivers list.
We're now at "12" drivers so far, that have run in the 2008 season.

Warm up laps

Mr. Mark Tranter, tries Tim's Vector on for size.

Radiator issues sidelined Jared for the rest of the weekend.

The top three finishers, both days, chit chatting.

Mr. Jim Edmonds, preparing to go out in the cold weather.

Taylor Archer is from Canada, and probably thought this was summer weather.

All lined up on pre-grid

All "6" FF's ready to go on pre-grid.

Tim Haskin.....All Concentration

And they get the green!

Mr. Jared Ratcliffe, finally receives his 2007 National Champion trophy.
(Just think - you could've gotten another plastic steering wheel!.....)

The Coneheads. Discussing race strategy.

Many thanks to my friend Mr. Kurt Chandler for providing info & photos
from Saturday & Sunday.

Thanks Kurt!
(You Da Man! )

Mr. Kurt Chandler, a fellow Team Lola driver, was kind enough to send a

They will be uploaded soon.

Thanks Kurt!

&

Received a very cool video, from Mike Milner that was taken
at the PIR Formula Ford "The Series" event.

AZ Formula Ford Racing - January 8th, 2008

Drivers page has been updated, with all drivers starting the 2008 season.

&

Countdown timer, for next event, has been set.
Remember.....East Track.
(Check your gearing)

&

Remember -

You don't need to run the Sumotomo tires to get your FF back on the track.
Running American Racer's or Goodyear's would be fine.
(Although you'd be classed outside of EFF)
It's all about getting you and the car back on the track, and having fun.
That's what it's all about.

AZ Formula Ford Racing - January 6th, 2008

Congrats to Mr. Ali Basakinci for taking the win on Saturday
and
Mr. Peter Workum for taking the win on Sunday

Saturday saw nine FF's beginning the 2008 season, but unfortunately it turned out to be a day of carnage.
I'm happy to report that no serious injuries came from it, but am sad to report that a couple cars may be
out for awhile, due damage that was quite substantial.

Gene's nose piece, after contact.

Team Geno, working to get him back on track.

Josh's car, after an incident.

Dean's Lola, un-dressed.

Dean Berry (Team Lola)

Mr. John Fitzgerald, of Formula first fame.

Team Geno, back on track.

Peter Workum and his Swift.

Sunday pregrid. (Fords & Firsts)

More pregrid.

Peter Workum, taking the checkered.

AZ Formula Ford Racing - January 4th, 2008

The 2008 Euro Formula Ford season has begun!

The drivers page will be updated, with drivers who participate throughout the season,
so that an accurate car count can be established.

Last season, we saw Mr. Tim Haskin take the victory, in the first race, through an
unbelievable showing of skill and daring.

Mr. Gene Kochert (The 2007 EuroFormula Ford Champion) will be running this weekend, and
am sure he'll be giving everyone a run for their money!

Mr. Ali Basakinci, who drives in a different time zone from normal humans, should be present
and will hopefully share some of his techniques with us .

Mr. Jared Ratcliffe - The 2007 EuroFormula Ford National Champion.
(Always a threat from Team Lola!)

Mr. Dean Berry is another "Team Lola" member.
(You know he's cool...he drives a Lola)

Please check the drivers page, after this weekend, for a complete listing
of all the drivers that participated.

AZ Formula Ford Racing - January 3rd, 2008

Coming up on our 1 day countdown before the 2008 EuroFormula Ford Championship season begins!

Reminder, this is a double points weekend, and is being held on the main track
(Check your gearing)

&

Make sure you bring along your wet weather gear, as all indications point
to the strong possibility of showers throughout the weekend!

AZ Formula Ford Racing - January 2nd, 2008

Recieved this E-mail from Team Geno, the "2007 EuroFormula Ford Champion"
(Now this is what our group is about! )

"For each day of the event we will have a hospitality area with food and beverages (includes a selection of beer and wine). The menu’s vary each day and the food is great so you won’t need to bring anything and you won’t go home hungry.
The hospitality area has viewing access to the track and is adjacent to the Paddock area so that you can view the car and all of the action prepping the car during the day.
There are also a number of production based race cars to watch race and view in the paddock.

We want each weekend to be a fun close-up experience to Formula Car racing that is not available anywhere else. Have your picture taken with the car, try the car on to see how it looks and feels from the driver’s seat.

To identify our Paddock area, look for a Ferrari and/or a “team geno” flag flying over the paddock area.

We look forward to seeing you at the track rain or shine (yes we race in the rain). If you can’t make it this weekend feel free to join us for any of the races during the season."

Believe me, Team Geno's hospitality area RULES!
Thanks Geno & CK!
